Signs & Symptoms of Erectile Dysfunction: How To Tell If You Have ED
Erectile Dysfunction (ED) is a common male sexual problem that affects millions of men around the globe. The older you are, the more likely it is that you’ll experience ED or difficulty of getting hard on command.
Mayo clinic defines erectile dysfunction as the inability of a man to maintain an erection sufficient for satisfying sexual activity.
It is noted that men who have symptoms of loss of libido due to testosterone deficiency, which often linked to ED.
So here are the signs and symptoms of ED that every man should know before it hits you:
- lose interest in sex
- difficulty of getting and sustaining an erection for a period of time
- it always softens before sexual intercourse
So if you have any signs of ED listed above, you should go to your doctor to have your testosterone level checked.
It’s no secret that most men are fairly connected to their manhood, so when something goes wrong and you can’t get a boner on command, most men’s minds right away go to the worst case scenario.
Fortunately, that’s usually not the case.
Like for instance, if you enjoy a good drink that might put you “in the mood”...but at the end of the day, alcohol is a depressant (poison), and if you drink too much of it, you’ll find that your body won’t cooperate when it’s time for some fun between the sheets (no matter how horny you might feel!)
On the other hand, if you smoke, and try to have sex shortly thereafter, you also run the risk of having performance problems. In this case, it’s because nicotine constricts your blood vessels, which translates into lower blood flow to the penile region.
Your penis depends on excellent circulation or blood flow to get (and remain) hard. Anything that interferes with that blood flow (like unhealthy lifestyles) is going to work against you. Luckily, there are certain foods that are rich in nitric oxides, which is good for circulation and ultimately good for erection hardness.

Occasionally, it’s just a simple case of performance anxiety, and let’s be honest: we’ve all been there at one particular time or another, particularly if we’re undressing a drop-dead gorgeous lady.
The hotter she is, the more likely we are to start thinking some variation of “what the heck is this lovely woman doing with me?!”
And of course, once that little seed gets planted in our “big head,” the “little head” begins getting anxious. One thing leads to another and before you know it…you are suffering from ED due to performance anxiety.
Sometimes it can be embarrassing and frustrating when you can get up at that moment, it’s uncomfortable, but it occurs. However, it's not ED as you may thought. That’s just nerves or commonly known as performance anxiety.
In some instances, it’s not so much your body that gets the much better of you, but life in general. Once again, this is not new or news to anyone, and everybody has experienced difficulty of getting hard due to stress or fatigue.
Things are challenging and frustrating at work. You’re putting in prolong hours, your boss is on your case consistently, and you’ve got big, important deadlines looming. All of that can take a lot of your most precious time, attention, and energy that by the time you finally get home at night, sexual intercourse is about the very last thing on your thoughts.
It’s actually tough to put in a five-star performance in the sack with work stuff looming more than you like that.
Often, it’s difficult to put in any sort of performance at all. Stress at work kills, but long before it turns deadly, it can ruin your sex life.
In the same manner, depression can pull you down, not only are you a lot less likely to think about sex throughout the day (remember: the average male thinks about sex thirty times a day!), but when it comes time to execute, you may or may not be able to even get a boner.
Even if you succeed, you may or may not be able to keep your erection for very longer period of time, depending on how stressed out you are.
Precisely, NONE of these instances though, is the problem of ED. These are all situational causes of one of the many sexual dysfunction in men, and while they’re most likely embarrassing and frustrating, these kinds of male sexual issues are easily fixed.
Try not to smoke for a couple of hours before having sex, or better yet, give it up completely. Limit or eradicate your intake of alcohol. Get time to de-stress and relax.
Erectile Dysfunction is a chronic condition that may not be go away until you find the root causes of it.
When ED hits you, it’s not something that crops up only once in a while, but it’s an ongoing sexual dysfunction of not achieving and maintaining a solid erection.
Although it’s pretty normal to jump to conclusions and allow your imagination run away with you, never assume the worst just because you have an occasional erectile problem of getting or keeping an erection.
Every man experiences those sorts of erection problems once in a while especially the hours just prior you tried to have sex.
Odds are good that you’ll identify the culprit, and you’ll find that it’s pretty easily remedied.
This is not to say that you need to fully disregard or write off even sporadic trouble getting with your erections. Undoubtedly make note of them and keep track, because you could be seeing the leading edge of a long term trend which really could point to the root causes of your ED.
Just don’t worry the very first time you have trouble getting hard when it is needed. It could be all in your mind, or rather, your big head could be sabotaging your tiny head down there.
